In an rapidly changing global economy, communities must proactively work to help their businesses and residents thrive and remain competitive. The West Kentucky Future project is an in-depth study of the region's workforce and industry. The Regional Economic Growth Strategy will analyze the regional workforce, identify opportunities for growth, and develop a strategic action plan to move West Kentucky forward.
Commissioned by the West Kentucky Workforce Board, the Regional Economic Growth will focus on the Pennyrile and Purchase regions, which encompass the seventeen counties of West Kentucky.
Avalanche Consulting and TIP Strategies will facilitate the development of the Regional Economic Growth Strategy. Both firms are based in Austin, Texas, and have worked extensively in the Purchase and Pennyrile regions, in addition to hundreds of communities across the US and abroad.
Connecting employers with a skilled workforce and residents with the skills to build a career are two of the most critical elements of a thriving community. Drawing from research, stakeholder input, and educational assets, the first of the process, a Workforce Analysis, will reveal the greatest opportunities and challenges to the regional workforce.
The second step of the process, the Sector Analysis, will examine global industry trends and regional assets to identify the business sectors with the highest potential for growth in West Kentucky. Understanding the needs of these sectors will allow West Kentucky to help existing local businesses succeed and attract new businesses to the region.
These two analyses will inform a Strategic Action Plan for West Kentucky. The Plan will provide a clear roadmap to guide partner organizations throughout West Kentucky to improve workforce development and ultimately the economic health of the region.

The West Kentucky Workforce Board is a nonprofit organization responsible for responding to training needs, economic development, and workforce development programs throughout the Purchase and Pennyrile Areas of West Kentucky.
